Last night (tonight), both Lolita (with her new hot and funky hairstyle!) and I crept out from our underground sanctuary and headed across town to the other side of Busan. We went to celebrate the last remaining hours in Korea of two people we know, Dave and Sarah (I’ve known Dave for some 6-years now). Both of them were leaving the land of Kimchi and Soju (操 韓國!) for, eventually, the green and pleasant (cough-cough) land
of blighty. So, we arrived at Sarah’s apartment just after 9pm bearing a gift – one of Lolita’s fantastic cakes that she had specially made for them – and proceeded inside where we were plied with a glass of white wine.
As the other guests arrived things began to pick up a little but the evening was to be a relatively quiet affair which is what was intended I presume. Wine and beer continued for a while but the white wine became a Chardonnay and neither Lolita or I are particularly partial to that. Still, that
wasn’t so bad since Lolita and I had consumed avast majority of wine the night before and did not feel like indulging so soon again (the first photo above shows the cocktail that Lolita made at “1212″ the previous night… changed colour as you drank it!). The only other drawback were the appalling tunes that were being played! Now, with the amount of iPods present there tonight, one would expect at least one or two quality tracks surely. Sadly, it was not to be.
A little later into the evening, Lolita’s cake was to be cut and handed around. Now, the cake in question was yet another masterful creation by the goddess of the kitchen! Lolita had made the entire cake earlier on the Friday morning/afternoon. The cake itself was a ‘rainbow’ cake since each layer was either red, blue, or green. As you can see from the pictures, it turned out to be fantastic and trust me, it tasted even better than it looked!
Before long, the call went up for us to make a move from the apartment and the general consensus was to head to a watering hole (hole being the word of choice here) over in nearby Gwangan. Both Lolita and I went along but upon arrival quickly discovered the place in question mirrored the hell we had imagined! The place was heaving with foreigners and the music(?) was pumping
loud enough that any conversation required the use of subtitles. I’ve never been interested in places like that, not unless it was a pub of some description where the music might be loud but at least it is good music and there are breaks in between. Still, countless others obviously did like it there… or maybe it was just the only place they could go in that area(?). Anyway, within moments of stepping foot in the establishment, both Lolita and I had decided that enough was enough and so we decided to take our leave.
Saying our farewells and wishing both Dave and Sarah the very best for their voyage ahead (in the street where no subtitles were required), Lolita and I decided to make a move and walked over to Kyongsongdae. There we tried a few places just to see who was out and perhaps garner some interest in “1212″. No one caught our eye on the night suggesting that there was no one around that we wanted visiting us here!
As we wandered about the drunk strewn back-streets of Kyongsong we came across a hole in the wall that was selling shellfish. Both Lolita and I were quite ravenous by this time and so decided to stop off for a late night/early morning sea-food feast before heading back to the 24-hour Mega-Mart down the road to do a some very late/very early morning shopping! Since we needed to get a taxi back to our place it only made sense to do it
all in one and the disbelief on the taxi driver’s face was priceless when we told him where we wanted to go at 4:30am in the morning/night. Haha!
Anyway, we would like to wish Dave and Sarah the very best. Good luck on your travels to Hong Kong and Thailand and we hope you both don’t get mired in Britain for longer than necessary! Get back out there on the open road, whether that be to Australia, South America, or even Timbuktu…
Hope you enjoyed finishing off what was left of the cake! Below are the rest of the photos from last night (along with how Lolita made her delicious cake AND the special “1212″ cake that she has made for the Saturday night open)…
Cheers!
PS. Love the ‘MeanGirl’ pictures Lolita! Haha! Korean bitch beware…
